Sleepy Sundaze: Issue #2
Nomadic Firs - Vines from Crash Symbols on Vimeo.
Today we are going to do things a bit differently. Its natural really. There comes a time when the old just doesn't cut the fat anymore and so things get changed up. See over the past few months Pants Dance has been growing; and with this growing audience, we happily opened our doors to more music submissions. Of course we have gotten the inevitable "I'm-a-misunderstood-industrial-drone-musician-who-just-yearns-to-be-recognized-for-the-genius-that-Trent-Rezor-Is" submission, and boy-o those are interesting. Yet much of the music we are sent is enjoyable - even if it doesn't fit into our PantsDance world.
Sometimes though we get a submission that is simply spot on. Take for example Nomadic Firs. We first posted them on November 13th with the Occupy-inspired "I'm A 99". Its a velvet merry-go-round that could have easily fallen into a niche cliche (much like that) - but it doesn't. Its cyclical nature - loop over loop, chant over chant - draws you in, tightly wrapping you in the heart of this socio-politico movement. If you haven't listened to it yet - stop being a jerk and check it out!
'Vines' continues the Baby Dayliner (a personal favorite) style of quirky-yet-addictive electronic, over hip-hop drums. And that voice - that midas voice is like butter melting on a warm homemade biscuit. Simply Amazing. So much so that we decided to post the video (a first!) along with our usual mini-mix. Please take a moment out of your sleepy daze to watch the infallibly cute video directed by Jacob Boyd - and don't forget to download the Sundaze mini-mix.
As always - Enjoy!
