There's no point in making a remix of a great song unless you can make a great remix, and the fact that both this dope version from Testudo and the original exist at once makes everything even more kick-ass.

Phoenix - Entertainment (Testudo's Late Night remix)

Life gets crazy every once in a while.  Time flies by and things slip under cushions.  And that's normal.  The important part is not to slow down, and clean your favorite couch on a regular basis.

you'll find

diamonds.

MP3: La Main - Kobenhavn

Found this in our inbox from a few months ago and have been listening to it a lot. Like, a lot a lot. Great for sunny drives and late brunches.

La Main is Jules Lane and the track is co-produced by Jake Nadrich.

MP3: Little Daylight - Overdose

Little Daylight put up a great new track last week and it's a beautiful combination of more than enough different sounds (whatever the opposite of "minimal music" is). It reminds me of something T.S. Eliot once said: "Only those who risk having more than enough will ever know how much is enough." Actually he didn't really say that exactly, but that's how I remember something he definitely did say.

To all those little too-muches that get us through the day:

MP3: Lane 8 - Every Night

Fresh-to-the-scene Lane 8 put out a track last week and it's a sweet little jam to start 2013 off right.  I don't normally gamble but I would bet we see a solid EP of original tracks from this guy sometime in the next 6 months.  Get to it.

MP3: Vario - Falling in Love

When I was in college I had a late night conversation with a friend over the difference between love and being in love.  I figured it out (randomly, on the train the other day) and now I feel stupid that I didn't understand this all along: "love" is an action, something that only exists when it's acted out, "in love" is a state of being, a way of defining yourself or something.  Think chemistry class and those graphs with potential and kinetic energy curves--it's the same as the difference between "melting" and "warming up".

So where does falling in love fit in to all of this?  You'll have to ask Vario.

MP3: Taken By Trees - Dreams

From the singer, Victoria Bergsman:

"[T]he kind of dream I am referring to in this song is more like a sense of longing, a vision of a place where things are quiet, like floating in the ocean off of Hawaii. I find that very hard, feeling at peace, feeling that things are OK just as they are. In the past I always feared that calm would lead to laziness, but now I see it more as a strength, something I want to achieve."

My first resolution for 2013 is to be less lazy, but I'm glad there are songs like this to argue for the other side.

My second resolution is to listen to more songs like this.

MP3: Toyboy & Robin - In Need

I'm not good at writing end-of-the-year lists, but this is on the top of my favorite-songs-of-right-now list (my favorite list of all). Thanks Toyboy & Robin.
